Captain Algol Deathmoid: the void of the black tide

Captain Algol Deathmoid is more than a monster; he is a force of nature, an eternal entity with no beginning and no end.
To him, existence itself is an aberration. A fleeting distraction in the infinite vastness of the sea. The edges of the map of The Realm-Tides crawl with temporal beings that strive to carve their place in a world destined to fade.
Algol has no patience for such fleeting ambitions, for he and his crew, The Perished, are timeless. They embody the inevitability of chaos, the unyielding truth of entropy.

Aboard his vessel, The Repossession, Deathmoid sails the dark waters with a singular purpose: to bring the seas back to their perfect form. He rejects the notion that life or anything ephemeral, has a place in the tides. To him, the gods of the sea were visionless creatures, doomed by their weakness, by their failure to unite under a singular order. Their endless squabbling fractured the tides, birthing disorder and instability. Deathmoid sees himself as the remedy—a harbinger of destruction, collecting the fragments of what the gods left behind to reshape the world as it should have been.

Algol’s ultimate ambition is clear: to turn the seas black with storm and fury, creating a world without still points, without beginnings or endings. A sea where chaos is the only order. But he is no mindless brute. His concept of chaos is methodical, a calculated dismantling of what others call “balance.” Every move Algol makes is deliberate, every conquest part of a grander plan to reclaim what the gods foolishly left behind.

The crew of The Perished is as eternal as their captain, bound to him by forces beyond the comprehension of mortal men. They are shades of sailors lost to the tides, trapped between existence and oblivion, yearning for the chaos Algol promises. Together, they are an unstoppable tide, sweeping across the Tide-Realm with ruthless precision.

Rumors of Algol Deathmoid ripple through the tide-realm, whispered by the survivors of his destruction. His presence looms like a shadow over every corner of the seas, a reminder that nothing—neither god nor mortal—can escape the tides of chaos. But even as Algol continues his relentless pursuit of order through destruction, there remains one undeniable truth: the seas, ever unyielding, may yet reveal challenges beyond even his eternal grasp.

The Marrowstrike, The Undying Edge

Forged from the bones of fallen gods, The Marrowstrike is Algol’s weapon of choice—a blade unlike any other. Its creation is steeped in mystery, as legends speak of Algol plunging into the Black Tides themselves to retrieve the fragments of divinity that bind the weapon. The blade pulses with chaotic energy, its edge glowing with the dark light of the tides.

The Marrowstrike is said to drain the life force of those it strikes, leaving them as hollow echoes of their former selves. Its undying nature reflects Algol’s own eternal existence; the weapon cannot break, nor can its power fade. It is imbued with the essence of the black tide, and those who wield it find themselves consumed by the same eternal hunger that drives Algol. Yet, in his hands, The Marrowstrike is a tool of precision, used to enact his vision of order through chaos.

The Repossession.

The Repossession is the physical manifestation of his vision. Its jagged hull shifts like it is alive, groaning under the weight of the eternal storm that Algol seeks to unleash. The sails bleed shadow and the ship’s deck glows with a living flame as though imbued with the lingering power of the gods themselves—power reclaimed through blood and ruin by Deathmoid’s relentless hand. The ship is said to have a mind of its own, responding to Algol’s every command. Its living nature makes it almost indestructible, for each strike upon its hull adds to its grotesque form. The winds that carry the ship seem unnatural as if powered by the eternal storm Algol desires, a swirling vortex that follows in its wake and sweeps everything into chaos.

The Mortuos Oculus

A gleaming red orb known as The Mortuos Oculus was discovered by Algol within the caverns of “The Forgotten Grave”, its fiery glow drawing him in like the tide itself. It whispers to him in moments of calm, guiding his actions and advising him on strategies that ensure there is no safe place for those who dare defy him. When out of use, Algol keeps the Apeirus shard close. Tethered to his body on a chain around his neck.
